Florida ’s no-fault personal injury protection law resumes January 1, 2008. Florida drivers are required to purchase $10,000 of personal injury protection which pays for covered health care bills and lost wages in case of an accident regardless of fault. The original legislation expired on October 1, 2007 and was reenacted during an October Legislative Special Session. If a policyholder fails to maintain PIP coverage, the State of Florida may suspend the policyholder's driver license and vehicle registration. Drivers are encouraged to contact their insurance company to ensure this coverage is in effect on each vehicle.
