The Constitutional Tax Collector collects taxes from every property owner in Palm Beach County.  We act as an agent on behalf of every government agency with the authority to levy property tax in the county.

Property Tax Facts:

  • Our agency sends out over 647,000 property tax bills.
  • The Board of County Commissioners, School Board, City Commissions, and other ad valorem taxing bodies set the millage rates for properties.
  • The Property Appraiser determines the assessed property value, certifies the ad valorem tax roll, and sends it to the Tax Collector.
  • The non-ad valorem assessment roll is certified to the Tax Collector by local governing boards, e.g. the Solid Waste Authority and water control districts.
  • The Tax Collector consolidates all the tax rolls and mails tax notices to property owners.
  • Ad valorem taxes and non-ad valorem assessments are due on November 1 or as soon after as the tax roll is certified.
  • Payment discounts are allowed as follows:
    • 4% in November*
    • 3% in December
    • 2% in January
    • 1% in February

*Or within 30 days of when the notice is mailed if it is not mailed before November 1st. The discount is determined by postmark of payment and the total amount is due in March.

Delinquent Taxes

Taxes and non-ad valorem assessments become delinquent on April 1 and 3% interest and advertising costs are added.  Delinquent payments are determined by date received, not by postmark.
