This year, Florida’s legislative session ended on May 8, after a one week extension focused on resolving a $6 billion revenue shortfall.
To bridge part to the revenue gap, legislators increased motor vehicle fees and drivers’ license fees.
On September 1, 2009, vehicle registration fees increased between 35% and 60% (depending on the type of registration). All funds resulting from motor vehicle fee increases go directly to State Revenue.
