Dear Friend,

In July of 2011 my offi ce completed the roll-out of full service driver
license services in each of our seven offices. The Florida Legislature’s transfer of driver license services from the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles to local tax collectors has been an enormous undertaking. With this new service requirement came the responsibility to implement the Real ID Act, a federal homeland security measure. The law was passed to improve the integrity and of state-issued driver licenses and identification cardsto help fight terrorism and reduce fraud.

Real ID impacts everyone who wants a driver license or ID card. That’s because you are required to come in person to our offi ce to prove identity as required by the federal law. The legislature provided no funding for public education about this often complicated process. That’s why I need your help educating friends, families, and neighbors.

Our “License To Drive” Real ID Tool Kit includes valuable education materials to help you prepare for the Real ID process that includes multicultural education materials in English, Spanish, and Creole:

• A REAL ID document checklist to organize required documents;
  U.S. Citizens: English, Espanol, or Kreyol.
  Immigrants: English, Espanol, or Kreyol.
  Non-Immigrants: English, Espanol, or Kreyol.
  Canadians: English, Espanol or Kreyol.
  
• Flyers to display or distribute in your community, clubhouse or congregation:
  Letter-size flyers: English, Espanol, Kreyol
  Legal-size flyers: English, Spanish, Kreyol
• A list of Frequently Asked Questions about the federal Real ID Act of 2005; and
• Instructions to upload a banner ad to your website.
